Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our numismatic and philatelic collections.
How do you ensure the authenticity of your stamps and coins?
Every item in our collection undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection by our in-house experts. We guarantee the authenticity of all pieces and, where applicable, provide certificates from recognized grading services like PCGS, NGC, or specialized philatelic experts.
What are your shipping and insurance policies for high-value items?
We offer secure, discreet shipping worldwide. All orders over $100 are automatically insured at no extra cost to you, and high-value shipments require a signature upon delivery to ensure your investment arrives safely.
Can I return an item if it doesn't meet my expectations?
Yes, we offer a 14-day return policy for most items, provided they remain in their original, unopened protective holders or capsules. Please note that bullion items may be subject to market loss fees.
How do you determine the grading of your inventory?
We use industry-standard grading scales (such as the Sheldon scale for coins). Our descriptions clearly state whether an item is professionally graded by a third party or raw, with detailed high-resolution photography provided for your own assessment.
Do you purchase collections from private individuals?
Shields Stamps & Coins is always looking to acquire rare pieces. If you have a collection you wish to sell, please contact our acquisitions team via email with clear photos and any existing documentation for an initial appraisal.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and bank wire transfers for larger transactions. For local customers, we also offer secure in-store payment options at our physical boutique.
